  Policy discussion on Thursday, February 9th, 2012 at 7.00 pm. We are delighted that Dick Newby, a member of the High Pay Commission, will be speaking to us about tackling high pay and inequality. The meeting will be from 7 to 9pm on Thursday 9 February.Previous Conservative and Labour Governments largely ignored the growing problem of income inequality in the UK, until the scandal of the banking crisis exposed the culture of greed endemic in many boardrooms. The Coalition Government, through Business Secretary Vince Cable, recently consulted on proposals to tackle excessive pay as a reward for failure.Dick Newby is a former Chief Executive of the SDP. He is a member of the House of Lords and co-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Treasury Parliamentary Party Committee. He was a member of the High Pay Commission which reported recently on the subject.
