Richard BurtMembers of South Worcestershire Housing Action Group are seeking a meeting to lobby Malvern Hills District Council's Leader to provide an alternative vision for housing development across the district.

The move, proposed by local Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, Richard Burt, would mean the council prepared in advance an alternative local plan to take the place of current proposals for mass housing development.

"We have already produced and distributed our own alternative vision for housing development to all Malvern Hills councillors," said Mr Burt.

"Following the council's decision to seek to delay a new local development plan until November 20011, it is critical that they do the groundwork for an alternative to replace the current planning framework that runs out in July 2011.

"Delaying work on the current housing numbers isn't good enough on its own. We need a firm commitment to get a realistic alternative in place as soon as possible after the current plan runs out, and that means starting work now."
