Lorely BurtSolihull's MP Lorely Burt will speak during the 'Examination in Public' on controversial hew housing plans for the West Midlands

Regional Spatial Strategy.

Mrs Burt is the only MP scheduled to speak at the Examination, which takes place for two months over May and June at the Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton.

Mrs Burt will oppose the government commissioned Nathaniel Lichfield Partnership (NLP) proposal for up to 13,000 additional homes for the borough on top of the numbers already agreed by Solihull Council.

"It would be an environmental disaster to give the green light for development on this scale in the Meriden Gap. Once built over, it can never be replaced. The entire process has been top-down and driven by Central Government. We should suspend the RSS and allow local councils and communities more say on plans for sustainable housing development in their own areas," said Lorely.

Examination into the case for extra houses for Solihull is scheduled for one afternoon and will begin at 2pm on Tuesday 2nd June.
